At least once in their lifetime

At least once in their lifetime

Every teenager thinks that their life sucks

the world is wrong and that they're not being treated fairly. Normally, these thoughts are due to the fact that they have to be home by 10 o'clock or possibly because they're grounded for getting a bad grade on a test.
As I sat on a plane flying towards Colorado, I wished that I had a curfew or had received a bad grade, as my life was a lot worse at the moment. My life had been perfect up to my 16th birthday. The day itself—Apri116th—had been one of the best days of my life. It was the kind of 16th birthday that every girl wanted and dreamed about. But after that perfect day, everything changed.
My mother's friend Katherine was in town  She had flown in a few days before and was staying with her brother outside the city. My family was driving out to pick her up, when an animal jumped out onto the road. My father, who was used to crazy city drivers, but not crazy animals, swerved —it took them right off the road.
I had never met the woman sitting next to me, even though she was my mother's best friend. They had grown up and attended Hawks Boarding School together. Back then she had been known as Katherine Green, but then she had married a man she met in college. Together, they had moved to Colorado and started up a cattle ranch, which was his lifelong dream. c23
I was placed in Katherine's custody. She told me that my mother hadn't died in the car accident right away, and that she had been brought to the hospital. Before passing away, she had insisted that Katherine take me. As I had no other living relatives, the police had no choice but to obey my mother's dying wishes. ดูดไขมันต้นขา pantip
And so, I sat on the plane in silence, trying not to cry my heart out over my family, fearing that if I succumbed to the pain, I wouldn't be able to resurface from it. I pondered over why my life was so unfair. Not only had I lost my loved ones, but also a woman I didn't know was taking me away from my home. To add insult to injury, she lived in the middle of nowhere. See what I mean by unfair?
Katherine fidgeted nervously. I asked her if she was afraid of flying because honestly, the lady looked like she was going to be sick. She smiled and told me that she wasn't, but she was rather nervous about taking me home. I asked her why and she gave me a sympathetic smile.
"Jackie, darling, did I ever tell you that I have twelve boys?"
I gaped at her in incredulity. Katherine had twelve boys? How was I ever going to survive? The only one that I had ever really known was my dad, and that didn't count. I went to a private school for girls! Didn't boys speak their own language or something? I could already tell that this was going to be a disaster. qo
It was a long flight, so I decided that I might as well try to prevent the oncoming catastrophe by finding out something about the family I was going to live with. After wiping away a few stray tears, I took out a notebook and pencil. I asked Katherine to tell me about her kids. She smiled and agreed enthusiastically. Some of the things she said scared me.
The Walter Boys:
Will is 22. He's studying part time at a local college and is engaged to his high school sweetheart.] Cole is 18. He's a senior in high school and quarterback for the football team.
Danny is 17. He's a senior in high school and president of the drama club. He's Cole's Irish twin.
Isaac is 16. He's a junior in high school and is obsessed with girls. He's Katherine's nephew.
Alex is 16. He's a sophomore in high school and plays baseball.
Lee is 14. He's a sophomore in high school and a skater. He's also Katherine's nephew.
Nathan is 14. He's a freshman in high school, loves art and paints on everything.
Jack and Jordan are 12. They're in 6th grade and twins.
Peter is 10. He's in 4th grade. He looks innocent, but has a raging potty mouth. cm
Zack and Benny are 7 and are in 2nd grade. They're twins and crazy little monsters. 173
When the plane landed, I grabbed my bags reluctantly and we set out to find Katherine's husband. George Walter was a tall man in his early forties. He wore a red and black flannel shirt with ripped jeans and a cowboy hat. When he saw Katherine, he ran to her and pulled her into a loving embrace. It reminded me of my parents and I cringed and turned away.
"Are you okay, Kitty? When you called me crying..."

Katherine pulled away to nod her head. "It's just..." she started and closed her eyes to keep the tears from flowing. She took a deep breath before continuing. "I feel like this was all my fault. If I hadn't come to visit—" ดูดไขมันต้นขา หมอลูกหนู
"Shhh." George quieted his wife and pulled her back to his chest.
I stared at Katherine as she cried on her husband's shoulder. There was some deep, dark part of me that didn't feel bad for her. She had lost a friend, but I had lost everything. Unlike her, I didn't have a shoulder to cry on because my entire family was gone. This deep, dark part of me couldn't help but blame Katherine. My family never would have been in the car that day if they hadn't gone to pick her up. Shaking my head to clear the nasty thoughts, I felt a pang of regret. Katherine had only shown me kindness. If it weren't for her, I might have been put into the foster care system.
George was stroking Katherine's hair and mumbling quiet comforts to her when she suddenly squeaked and pulled away. "Oh Jackie," she said, turning to look at me with regret in her eyes. "I'm so sorry, I forgot..." Katherine looked back over her shoulder at her husband, as if that explained how she failed to remember that I was standing here. I nodded my head with a silent understanding; she had been caught up in her grief.
Katherine cleared her throat. "Honey," she said, taking her husband's hand. "This is Jackie Howard. Jackie, this is my husband George." 113
George looked uncomfortable as he sized me up. How exactly do you greet someone who has just lost her family? Nice to meet you? We're happy to have you? Instead George held out his free hand for me to grasp. I stared at it ten-tatively for a moment, before reaching out and putting my hand in his.
"You've got a strong grip, Jackie," he said and nodded his head in approval. "That's a good thing." Then George turned to Katherine. "Let's get the lug-gage and go home." As he picked up one of my bags and threw it over his shoul-der, the frown that had been etched onto my face since my family's funeral loosened. There was something about George that told me living with the Walter's wouldn't be so bad after all. 1p
Once all of my suitcases had been packed into the bed of the truck, I climbed in the backseat and dug my iPod out of my jacket. There was nothing better than a sad song to drown all your sorrows in. George and Katherine chatted quietly in the front about the flight. Not wanting to hear any more of their conversation, I turned up the volume. As we drove farther away from the city and deeper into the country, I became more depressed. Colorado was beautiful, but how was I ever going to live here? Finally, after what seemed like hours, the truck pulled onto a gravel road. In the distance, I could see a house at the top of a hill, but just barely. Was all of this land really theirs?
When we got to the top of the hill, I realized that it wasn't a single house; it looked more like three houses put together. I guess you need a lot of space for twelve boys. As we got closer, I could tell that the grass desperately needed to be mowed and the wooden front porch could use a paint job. I also noticed the lawn was covered in toys, probably the younger boys' handiwork. George hit one of those small clickers that were clipped onto the visor, and the garage door started to open. A bike fell over, followed by a few more toys, which blocked the truck's way into the parking spot.
"How many times do we need to tell them to clean up?" George grumbled to himself. "Don't worry honey, I'm on it," Katherine said as she unbuckled her seat belt and slid out of the car. I watched as she moved the mess so her husband could pull in. When the car was finally parked, George let the engine die, and we sat in the dim silence for a moment. Then, George turned around in the front seat to face me. "You ready Jackie? You look rather pale." Of course I looked pale! I had just flown halfway across the country with a woman I didn't know because my family died! And on top of that she had twelve kids, all boys! I I
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just a little nervous I guess." Not to mention completely depressed.
"Well, I guess the best piece of advice I can give you 'bout my boys," he began while unbuckling his seat belt, "is that they'll like you fine if you just be yourself!" I nearly rolled my eyes, but refrained from doing so. I didn't want to be rude to the people who were taking me under their wing and letting me live with them. But still, his words were the exact opposite of reassuring.
George got out and slammed the door shut, leaving me alone to compose my-self. But I couldn't. As I sat by myself in the backseat, I was suddenly consumed by the fact that my family had died in a car—something that I was sitting in. I could picture flashes of the accident in my mind—the streak of an animal, the wheel spinning out of control, a giant tree looming up on the side of the road—and I ripped off my seatbelt. Flinging the car door open, I scrambled out onto the cold concrete of the garage as a sharp pain bit into my chest. I had never had a panic attack before, but I knew that this was one as I tried to suck down a lungfuls of air. Tremors were making their way through my body.
Calm down. Take deep breaths.
A silent sob escaped my lips, and soon there were more tears running down my cheeks. My face was hot and flushed and my eyelashes stuck together, waterlogged. As my meltdown continued I thought about one of the Walter's finding me here alone on the floor of the garage crying.

Stop Jackie! I thought to myself and squeezed my eyes shut. You can't let anyone see you like this. I needed to toughen up. Gritting my teeth together, I took a deep breath, brushed my tears away and climbed to my feet. to
Someone had opened the truck bed revealing my luggage. I slung my hockey bag over my shoulder and picked up my stick and skates. I decided that I might as well make an impression when I walk in, the tougher the better.
"Jackie!" Katherine called through the open garage door that led to what must have been the backyard. I followed her voice out into the sunlight.
At first, the only thing I saw was her standing on a pool deck, waving at me. But then I saw them in the water. They were splashing and goofing around—a completely shirtless bunch of gorgeous guys.
